{"id":17926,"date":"2023-01-25T19:20:14","date_gmt":"2023-01-25T19:20:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test.olacde.org\/vii-summit-of-heads-of-state-and-government-of-the-community-of-latin-american-and-caribbean-states\/"},"modified":"2023-01-25T19:20:14","modified_gmt":"2023-01-25T19:20:14","slug":"vii-summit-of-heads-of-state-and-government-of-the-community-of-latin-american-and-caribbean-states","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.olacde.org\/en\/vii-summit-of-heads-of-state-and-government-of-the-community-of-latin-american-and-caribbean-states\/","title":{"rendered":"VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States"},"content":{"rendered":"\nDuring the VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), held in Buenos Aires-Argentina on Tuesday, January 24, the role of The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) was highlighted in the Special Declaration on Regional Energy Integration in CELAC countries.\n\nOLACDE, through its Executive Secretary, Alfonso Blanco, was invited to participate, as an observer, in the VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of CELAC, a meeting attended by the 33 Member Countries.\n\nThe inauguration ceremony was presided over by the President of Argentina, Alberto Fern\u00e1ndez, who holds the pro tempore presidency of the organization.\n\n“The time has come to make the Caribbean and Latin America a single region that defends the same interests for the progress of our peoples”, noting that to achieve this it is necessary to work together because “it is much easier to achieve these results together”.\n\n \n\nThe President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, in relation to the integration of the Americas with clean energy sources, mentioned that\u00a0“there is a possibility of integration of the Americas, but on the basis of the recognition of our own power”<\/em>\u00a0and alluded to the regional role of OLACDE.\n\nHe emphasized that OLACDE “…could very well be the pillar, the instrument of the concrete projects of Latin American unity”.\n\nWithin the framework of the VII Summit of Heads of State and Government CELAC, the Declaration of Buenos Aires was issued, composed of 100 points of consensus and 11 special declarations.\n\nIn the Special Declaration on Regional Energy Integration in CELAC countries, the role of OLACDE is highlighted, mentioning:\n\n\u201c\u2026DECLARE THEIR WILLINGNESS TO:\n

  1. Dynamize the regional energy integration process and carry out the Energy Transition through a broad consensus, under the political and regulatory leadership of governments and based on fruitful national dialogues with society and the private sector.<\/em><\/li>\n
  2. Advance in the integration process at the regional level, with the support of CELAC, in accordance with the internal regulatory frameworks and national energy planning, to ensure that our peoples benefit from greater access to electricity, at more competitive prices within the framework of greater economic and social development, which will enhance energy security and transition in Latin America and the Caribbean; also valuing the work developed by The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE)<\/em>…”.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n \n\nCELAC\n\nThe Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) is an intergovernmental mechanism for political dialogue and consultation.
