The main focus was on analyzing Global Energy Interconnection as a fundamental initiative to achieve a highly clean, electrified, and intelligent energy system that allows for sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This event was organized by the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEICO), with the support of the Permanent Mission of the People&#8217;s Republic of China to the United Nations, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, and The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the event, which brought together experts from around the world, OLACDE&#8217;s Executive Secretary, Andr\u00e9s Rebolledo, participated as a speaker and presented on \u201cEnergy Transitions in Latin America and the Caribbean.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-22706 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.OLACDE.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/AR-1194x683.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1194\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his speech, Rebolledo highlighted that Latin America and the Caribbean is the greenest region in the world, thanks to its abundance of water, sun, wind, and strategic minerals for the energy transition. He assured that these conditions place the region in a privileged position in the global geopolitical scenario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, he explained that Latin America and the Caribbean are advancing towards the second phase of energy transitions, which requires greater planning and the construction of new electrical transmission infrastructures.
